Shout out to Gabby Etrog Cohen, director of PR for hot spinning studio SoulCycle. Gabby listed our favorite "Ekwok Traditional" Pant as one of her Top Ten Things on shopping site, Beso.com. Our founder Jayme definitely agrees, he wears them suckers like every single day and even cut a pair into shorts. Hilarious side note: Many people accidentally refer to them as "Ewok" pants, like the furry creatures from Star Wars as opposed to the lovely Yupik village in Alaska they were truly named after. Hee!

Tommy Ton Wears PVBLIC during NYFW!

PVBLIC got a little love at New York Fashion Week. This shot showed up on Tumblr and as it turns out, it's noted fashion street-style photographer/blogger Tommy Ton on the right, wearing our Alaska Edition "Ekwok Traditional" Fleece Pant. Work!

"Alaska Edition" Coming to an End...

Well, our first collection is coming to a close. Most stores are sold out of "Alaska Edition" now and we're gearing up to start shipping PVBLIC for Spring '12, "Mesoamerica Edition". We learned so much about the native Alaskan people (along with ourselves) and really feel humbled by the whole experience. Figured we'd show some final images of Alaska from UltraVNetwork...

Fabulous San Francisco store Acrimony has put their Alaska Edition in their online store. They got a great assortment. We haven't seen that Totem Bird beaded slouchy top anywhere else online. Looks gorge!

One of our favorite "Alaska Edition" items has been featured in Nylon's September issue (along with a nice little write-up): our Medicine Pouch shirt! As previously mentioned, the leather pouch comes with a crystal indigenous to Alaksa inside...but you can use it to stash whatever's stashable ;)

Crystal Rock Formations of Alaska - Rutilated Quartz

Our Fall/Winter range"Alaska Edition" has all kinds of little details and tidbits we ought to share. For instance, included in our women's collection is a lovely organic scoop neck tshirt that comes paired with a leather "Medicine Pouch," inspired by the herb pouch the shaman of Alaska used. This pouch is detachable for easy washing and each one contains a piece of tumbled "Rutilated Quartz," a crystal rock formation indigenous to Alaska and other areas.

For all you new-agey types out there, here's a few facts about Rutilated Quartz: Rutile is a major ore in Titanium. This particular rock forms a needle-like crystal inclusion inside. This form of quartz is known as "rutilated" and it looks like it has small threads of embedded gold running through it.

Rutilated quartz has been referred to as Cupid's darts, Venus hair stone and Fleches d'amour.

Folklore says Rutliated Quartz has the following healing properties: Brings forth each person's strengths, originality and aids sleep. It enhances creativity and to relieve depression and loneliness. Rutilated quartz is also said to slow down the aging process and is said to be a strong healer.
